| Investigation Number 998: Local OPERA (Operational Research Assistance) Program |
| |
The LRRB has funded the local OPERA program to encourage Minnesota’s local governments to participate in “hands-on” transportation research and to share their results with agencies and road crews throughout the state. OPERA aims to promote innovation in operations and maintenance methods, materials, and equipment for a safer, more efficient and environmentally sound statewide transportation system. The program will fund projects up to $10,000. Funding requests under $5000 are selected based on a submitted proposal; requests between $5000 and $10,000 are approved after a presentation to the selection committee. Project selections will be made monthly or as projects are submitted. OPERA funds may be used for partial funding of research projects as well as full funding. For more information or to apply for OPERA funding, visit http://www.mnltap.umn.edu/programs/opera/ or contact Jim Grothaus, Minnesota LTAP Engineer, 612-626-1077.
