One Stop Shop for Oversize/Overweight Permits

June 1, 2017 by LRRB

Since it is the responsibility of the hauler to obtain permits from state and local agencies, the trucking industry would benefit from a “one stop shop” for Oversize/Overweight permitting that includes selecting routes and requesting permits from all government agencies along the route. This project will develop a plan for creating a process and policies to address both government and hauler needs for an accessible and automated system for unified permitting within and across jurisdictions. An integral part of this work will be to develop a process that integrates repeatable data protocols and maintenance processes from authoritative source data agencies to reduce or eliminate non-forecast of pavement lifecycle consumption caused by the increase in the number of Oversize/Overweight vehicles.
