BPs for Sign Reduction – Phase 2

February 7, 2017 by LRRB

Document the issues that are perceived by local road authorities to be roadblocks to removing unnecessary signs. For example, roadblocks could include conducting an engineering study, developing policies to help managing risk (based on Minnesota tort law), providing public notice and conducting a follow-up evaluation. In response to the identified roadblocks, best practices would be identified along with a process that would address the technical issues associated with removing unnecessary signs and guidelines for developing policies that would provide an umbrella of immunity from legal challenges that might arise in the future.
