Flashing Yellow Arrow Tool for Time-of-Day Use Instructional Video

January 18, 2017 by LRRB

This video accompanies a spreadsheet tool developed by the Local Road Research Board to assist local agencies in determining which hours of the day to consider using flashing yellow arrow (FYA) phasing. This instructional video is meant to help understand the methodology used to develop the spreadsheet, as well as how to use it. An instructor walks users through an example intersection and describes the inputs needed and how to interpret the results. The spreadsheet and video are tools to assist engineers with decision-making regarding Flashing Yellow Arrows, but engineering judgment should be used to make the final decision.
