This is the latest revision of the handbook, originally written in 1996. It has been updated to better align with other state departments of transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and industry. As preventive maintenance and preservation of bituminous pavements continues to evolve, they include a brief discussion on spray applied bituminous surface seals and additional similar types of thin bituminous pavement surface treatments which are often referred to as BSTs.
