Jackson County adapts bridge approach transition curb for retrofits

Washington County tests methods to improve roadside pollinator habitats

Washington County is testing four different methods of site preparation and seeding to determine which is the most effective and efficient way to increase floral resources for pollinators along roadsides. Those methods include application of various conventional and organic herbicides, mowing, and broadcast seeding.

Pervious Concrete A Success for Lakeside Neighborhood

Recent research shows that the city of Shoreview was on the right path in 2009 when it took the then-unusual step of installing pervious concrete pavement on the streets of the Woodbridge neighborhood to help control stormwater and pollutant runoff into nearby Lake Owasso.

Homegrown inspection vehicle improves culvert repair

MnDOT District 6 has developed the Hydraulic Inspection Vehicle Explorer (HIVE), a radio-controlled car that takes lights and a camera into culverts and transmits inspection data wirelessly to a tablet. Each vehicle costs roughly $1,500.

New resources are available to help local agencies identify and report harmful weeds and insects. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has created a 74-page guide that illustrates Minnesota’s noxious weeds and their safe look-alikes.
